My opinion on the condom debate that is surrounding AIM's closure - we live in the United States of America where grown men can willingly pummel each other bloody in an octagon or a ring for live and televised public entertainment, where BMX and motocross riders can do back flips (and yes, get seriously injured or die sometimes) among the dozens of other risky occupations that exist in this world (have you seen last season's Deadliest Catch?). How in the context of all this can two legally consenting adults not make their own decision to get tested and do a condomless scene? Nothing in life is perfectly safe, and fortune favors the brave.
I find Michael Weinstein's of AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) stance on condom use to be patronizing and ignorant of the facts. First of all, his mis-characterization of us talent being these helpless victims I find patently offensive. Has Michael Weinstein or Shelly Lubbin ever considered that these girls are grown adults who may understand and accept the risk and responsibilities of their profession?
